Transformative Practice in Play Therapy Intersectionality with SOGIE Children, Adolescents & Their Families

This 6-hour ethics & play therapy training aims to provide play therapists and mental health practitioners with the roles they facilitate in working with individuals and families of the Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Expression (SOGIE) Community. This ethics workshop will examine culturally sensitive language, gender-affirming practices, strategies, and play therapy interventions to working with SOGIE children, adolescents, and their families. Participants will examine the intersectionality of the relevance of SOGIE Community populations, including historical, political, and policy perspectives, the development of SOGIE identity-formation, health, mental health, familial issues, and SOGIE issues through childhood and adolescence. Participants will examine play therapy interventions in the playroom when working with SOGIE children and adolescents.
