The creative use of games, art, puppets and stories in therapy is an effective way to engage clients and help them to resolve difficulties. A variety of games, art activities, stories, and other techniques will be highlighted. The techniques will be applied to specific clinical examples to illustrate how they can help clients work through treatment issues such as feelings identification, anger management, social skills, stress reduction, and self-esteem.
The activities presented can be used with a wide range of presenting problems and difficulties such as family violence, divorce, grief and loss, serious illness, and placement in out-of-home care. Videos and live demonstrations will illustrate techniques.
